Reykjavík tour bus stops: find your pickup point
Tour buses are not allowed to stop at most hotel entrances in central Reykjavík. Since the city's 2017 arrangement for coach traffic, pickups happen at a set of designated tour bus stops instead. Nearly every operator in the city uses the same stops, so the one serving your accommodation is the same whether you are travelling with us or with someone else.

How the pickup system works
Your confirmation names a stop by number and by an Icelandic place name — "Stop 8, Hallgrímskirkja", for example. The number is the part that matters. The name tells you which landmark to walk toward.
Stops are placed so that almost every central hotel is within a ten-minute walk. Some accommodations outside the centre get direct doorstep pickup instead, and your confirmation will say so rather than naming a numbered stop.
Be standing at the stop five minutes before your pickup time. The bus runs a fixed route through the city and cannot wait or come back. In winter, add time for ice — the ten-minute walk in November is a fifteen-minute walk in February.
Your pickup time is when the collection route begins, not when the tour departs. Gathering everyone takes up to half an hour, and that is normal.
Tour bus stops are not Strætó stops
This is the single most common mistake. Reykjavík has two completely different kinds of bus stop: the yellow Strætó shelters used by public transport, and the designated tour bus stops used by tour operators and airport shuttles. They have different signs and they are often only a short distance apart.
If you wait at a Strætó stop, your tour bus will not find you. Check that the stop number on the sign matches the number on your booking confirmation.

What happens if I miss my pickup?
Call us as soon as you realise. The bus runs a fixed route and usually cannot return, but if we're still collecting elsewhere in the city we can sometimes arrange another stop. Our number is +354 784 4000.
Can I change my pickup location after booking?
Yes. If you are booked with aurora viking you can log into the booking management and change it, we have a 2 hour cut off time for that.
How early should I be at the stop?
Five minutes before your stated pickup time, standing outside where the driver can see you.
What if my hotel isn't on the list?
Type in the name of the hotel into the pick up place finder and choose the nearest stop to where you're staying.
Are the stops sheltered?
Most are not. Dress for standing still outdoors in Icelandic weather rather than for walking in it.
