“Northern Lights Bus” is the provider name shown on the linked GetYourGuide listing. Its relationship to the separately named BusTravel Iceland listings has not been established in this research, so their reviews remain separate. Why we recommend Aurora Viking for a small-group photo tour
Aurora Viking combines an 18-guest maximum, included professional photographs and an advertised standard adult fare of 19,900 ISK including VAT. Its direct-booking policy offers unlimited retries within two years after an attended original tour without a naked-eye aurora sighting, subject to availability. Photography and retries are meaningful inclusions, but they are not unique to Aurora Viking. Several competitors advertise them too. Compare whether the price includes delivered photographs, what happens after an unsuccessful hunt and which vehicle is used for a retry.

For another price reference, Wake Up Reykjavík advertises its small-group Northern Lights tour at 20,990 ISK. Aurora Viking’s published 19,900 ISK fare is 1,090 ISK lower than that advertised fare. These are different listings, with no common departure-date quote; the comparison does not establish the lowest price across Iceland. No discount code has been applied to either figure.

Aurora Viking’s owner confirms that all those reviews concern Northern Lights guests, although other tours are offered. This is an owner-confirmed statement about review scope; the research did not independently classify every review.
EastWest also displays 5.0, with 2,105 reviews, including reviews of other tours. Nordur’s visible reviews also include non-aurora excursions. Google therefore provides useful business context, but it is not a uniform set of Northern Lights product scores. Aurora Viking does not have a unique highest Google score among these businesses.

Start with a final price for your date and party. Then check the group limit, whether delivered photographs are included, pickup charges, warm clothing and the practical retry conditions. A lower advertised fare can still involve different inclusions; a more expensive vehicle does not establish a higher aurora sighting rate.
For a private booking, compare the whole-party total, capacity and duration. For boats, check transfers and onboard extras. For any retry, ask about the expiry date, availability and whether the return trip uses the same tour format.

Regional directories include businesses serving several areas and are not complete registers of all active operators. The full GetYourGuide national catalogue did not load, and some Tripadvisor product pages were unavailable. These are explicit coverage gaps.
This comparison focuses on dedicated evening tours in the five formats above. A nationwide claim covering every aurora experience would also need to address options such as Geo Travel’s snowmobile tour and stationary guided experiences. Multiday holidays are a different product: the discovery inventory contains a 5.0/111 private two-day package, excluded because of duration, not its high score.
Sources, coverage and corrections
This research register contains 76 tour-platform product pages with verified scores, including 48 scores above the 100-review threshold, a 171-URL discovery inventory (123 Viator and 48 Tripadvisor), 27 Google profile observations, and 30 seller/catalogue records across 19 businesses or candidate channels. A separate national audit tracks 80 candidate records, including regional-directory businesses deduplicated by recorded name, a confirmed Höfn private product and two unresolved GetYourGuide suppliers. A candidate record is not a completed review audit or proof of a distinct operator. These are records, not counts of unique tours or independently reviewed guests. One Google identity match remains unresolved and is omitted from the public Google table above.
The comparison uses public tour pages and Google profiles, with source links alongside the observations. Some pages were retrieved through indexed copies, so the retrieval date is not necessarily the last time the platform updated the data. Counts can differ between a category card, a product page and a browser view.
Discovery covered Reykjavík and Iceland category results, but not every marketplace result or Icelandic departure area was accessible. Multi-day packages, attraction tickets and company-wide fallback ratings are excluded from the evening-tour rankings. Products with 100 or fewer reviews remain visible as smaller-sample options rather than being labelled worse tours.
